Hi! Do you want your little ones to eat fruit but don’t know what to make them for a snack? Don’t worry! Apple pancakes are the solution.

Today we bring you one of those kids’ recipes that will make your taste buds tingle, as it combines the traditional American pancakes with a fun, interactive format to help your children get used to eating healthier.

These apple pancakes are a very easy kids’ recipe you can make this Christmas in just a few minutes, getting your little ones involved in the preparation. In this way, they will understand everything that goes into feeding them more healthily and will become more aware of the importance of eating fruit. While you prepare the recipe, you can tell them that apples are the favourite fruit of ponies and horses, and that thanks to their high potassium and calcium content, their bones will grow very strong.

Ingredients for the apple and cinnamon pancakes. (12 pancakes for 4 people)

  • 250 grams of flour.
  • 2 apples.
  • 2 eggs.
  • 150 grams of sugar.
  • 1 glass of milk.
  • 1 spoonful of baking powder.
  • Half a spoonful of cinnamon.
  • Margarine
  • Butter or Honey (To taste).

How is it prepared?

The first thing we must do is wash the apples thoroughly, using a specialised fruit and vegetable wash or simply water. Once you have done this, grab a peeler and carefully start removing the skin so as not to waste the flesh.

Then core them and cut them into thin slices or cubes (whichever is most convenient). It is important to note that this step must NOT be done by a child on their own, due to the risk of cutting themselves, since they do not yet have the precision needed to handle any sharp tool.

1.- With all the apples prepared, grate them into a glass bowl and leave them there with the juice. This liquid will serve as the essence that gives the pancakes their flavour.

2.- Meanwhile, put a frying pan on the heat with a knob of butter and let it heat for 5-7 minutes.

3.- Add the flour, 1 egg, sugar and a spoonful of baking powder to the same bowl you used for the apples, where they were grated earlier. Mix everything together with an immersion blender or in the food processor (use whichever appliance is easier for you), adding the glass of milk halfway through and the remaining egg.

Keep mixing gradually until you get a smooth, even consistency, making sure there are no lumps or any other unpleasant elements that could ruin this wonderful kids’ recipe.

4.- DONE! You now have the mixture ready for your apple pancakes. Now add a scoop of this mixture with a ladle and pour it out until you get a round shape in the pan you had heated earlier.

5.- While they are in the pan, flip your apple pancakes every 2 minutes so they cook evenly on both sides. Take them out as soon as you see they are golden brown.

What can you serve apple pancakes with?

You can serve your apple pancakes with the topping of your choice (honey, chocolate, butter, jam), enjoying them to the fullest with those little ones who bring so much joy to your life.

We recommend NOT eating them hot or with very cold drinks to avoid colic or other stomach upsets, which could unnecessarily lead to a medical emergency.

See? Kids’ recipes are a fantastic way to teach your children discipline, showing them the true value of each of those things they have at home every day.
